Heh I had that preserved flower the other day but I assumed it was just an unused quest item an destroyed it. Well I guess it is...kinda...sorta...maybe...possibly...hopefully...or what ever.

WOW!!!! That's sounds awesome. It actually makes me want to get more titles. Seems like it gives players valid reasons to switch and enjoy the things they've accomplished in the orignal and benefit in the sequel. I wonder if we will know what titles unlock what bonuses. I'd like to know what to work towards. I'm guessing the hall of monuments will display titles gained from all characters on your account. So instead of having to have one character finish all campaigns, maybe I can get protector of tyria on my ele, prot of cantha on War and Prot of Elona on my derv.

With all this talk about wanting to transfer characters into a game based 100 years later, I couldn't help but link this picture... (originally on GWOnline forums)

Darn, found out in the interview on Kotaku that when you create a new character in GW2 you pick a character from GW to inherit your unlocks from. Which kinda sucks for those of us that have multiple ones that are not as far. But great for Dana, and those with a one main. Well, I guess my ele and war will become mules and pvp'ers, with the occasional farming thrown in. I really enjoy my dervish the most now.

The Wired interview mentioned something interesting about skill usage. It implied that skills may be used differently when say running or jumping than when standing still.

I have now had a good chance to read all those articles now and i must say i am a little relieved now to know that at least the original Guild Wars was not all for nothing.
As long as Character Names can be reserved in some form, that would just about make my day. I would hate to see someone else with a Dana Hawkeye running around.
Its also nice to know that your current character's successor will have entitlement to some titles, weapons, armour and pets etc.
So Dana Hawkeye (the 2nd), my great, great, great grandaughter, I bequeth to you all my worldly possessions and just take good care of my Obsidian Armour and Drago's.

... or in my case.
Hmm lets see...
You can have Towel's Protector of Tyria, and you can have Ebony's Protector of Elona. Now as for you, Crumbly also got protector of Tyria but what use is she because you might as well have descended from Towel. What do you mean they all share the same ancestor anyway? That's not possible I'm afraid.

Sounds to me like a 2nd GW expansion is possible, depending on how GW1 players respond and GW2 development goes. I wouldn't hope for anything bigger than a Sorrow's Furnace-sized content release once GWEN's out. Regardless, he was business-smart to answer the last question vaguely. Some folks might dismiss GW if there were no hope of a 2nd expansion. (and move on to other games sooner rather than later)
GWEN keeps sounding more and more interesting. Just a shame that it's coming out around the same time as my other anticipated release... which is Half-Life 2: Episode 2. (Plus Portal & Team Fortress 2, since they come with it) Too many good releases in the same season. Drat.

Every press release I see for every game reminds me of all the Peter Molyneux lies. Hype Hype Hype, then they come out and 90% of what was promised isn't even in the game. So I just stopped reading them, so I can feel less ripped off.
Don't buy before reading the review is the morale of the story.

I just picked up PC Gamer yesterday. Nice pix, but the story has been cut and pasted on GWO so no surprise info to read. I'm guessing that Anet is jumping to a different game engine because of MS Vista & the upcoming DX-10. Several ppl I know who have Vista can't run some XP programs, which means OS compatability is gonna eventually force everyone to upgrade to Vista.

I would predict they would loose up to half of the players if they went dx-10. Guess that would be a good reason to keep the original guild wars going.
I don't know about anyone else but I have nowhere near the money to be able to afford a system to run vista and have any game run decently on it. Kinda funny that the os "built from the ground up for gaming"(hype) has 40% performance decrease from xp.
Guess everybody should start a savings fund just in case they do end up needing a monster to play it.
(Price check on a quad core system with 2-4gbs of ram and quad sli video array)
Considering Anet made it so Guild Wars can be played on dial up I would find it hard to believe they would jump on the dx-10 boat unless they were moving to a monthly fee platform.
Which again would put me in the not playing GW2 category.

I would be surprised if DX10 was required to play, but not if it was an option. And Anet have said several times there will be no monthly fee.

If I'm not mistaken the min required for GW now is DX8, but there is support for DX9 and looks better and all that. I would bet that ANet does the same for DX10, like Yozhura says.

The current trend for dx10 games is that they are dx10 only. So I can't say if that is even possible or not.

Who says ArenaNet follows the trend?
