Yes, that's true Jane.
I went through faction in the "second wave". I often had help of some as long or longer into the gamer as I was. But very seldom from more than one or two others from the Scouts/alliance at the same time, there were not that many to choose from.
I like to explore things in depth with one character, do as many quests and explore as much as possible. But I do not bother if I miss some occasional quests or 10% of the map ( as long as I have got all the nice views). When I have done that, I help others, skill hunt or play with my other characters. So far I have never got to the "bored now" point. Guess I'm easy to entertain, or just know myself well enough to avoid everything that might trigger boredom.
Regards, Lago Mortis

Lago, I think your Magic: The Gathering example is becoming more and more apt for the future of Guild Wars.
And I've played GW now longer than I played Magic. Though GW is probably cheaper in the long run. (started when Fifth Edition came out, and played for a little while afterwards)

250 quests, phew...or is it just me working too long for Cantha Fedex? I would also have liked a less, "yet another save the world story" this time. There must be a lot of different scenarious that have been used and tested in the roleplaying community. We do not always have to save the world, do we? Regards, Lago Mortis 250 isn't that much really, it mostly depends on how they made the count. I must admit though that that saving the world thingie is becoming old, one of the best epic I ever read was the story of Drizzt do Urden as he grew up with the dark elfs then escaped from the city to find himself a place in the sun, sure he was the good guy and he solved conflicts but the epic never needed him to be the ultimate in terms of heroics. Why not for once have us have some crucial choices to make about who to help or nopt or who is good or bad, why not have some real roleplay where we can be the bad guys or the good guys and evolve from there. In factions I wanted access to both sides because I always felt as the neutral party in the conflict never really finding one side to be the good guys, as such i didn't see why I couldn't play both of them to get to my objective since after all they were playing me all the same. In fact the only part of real roleplay I saw in factions was the quest where you can choose between drinking or not drinking from the cup of that crazy guy. In nighfall I dream of a world where even though there are missions some of them can be seen from both sides of a barrier only my choices will place, even more i dream of a storyline with multiple endings one can't reach but once, I ask only two things, that territories stay explorable even though they serve for a mission and that choices stay that, without a possibility to rework them or at least not with the same character. If your choice is to not kill childrens that are supposed to be demon hosts and it later proves to be true i want the game to reflect that for me even/especially if it means certain parts of the game will have totaly different mobs spawning due to that or if it means certain merchants will refuse to speak to me because they felt i let them down, I'm pretty sure the game can be programmed to act like that after all such a conditional event is like having a particular quest in your logbook except that quest cannot be removed And there I went to write a book again

If you want a great story, read the Wheel of Time books.
If you want to make real decisions in an RPG, to play a Knights of the Old Republic game. (1 or 2, take your pick... tho 2 has more moral choices)

(1 or 2, take your pick... tho 2 has more moral choices) Real decisions? I think your smoking crack. The only difference the choices make are if your light side or dark side and they don't really make much difference. The story line still takes you to the same places where you fight the same guys. Hmm Just like Fable. I think they have yet to make a game where your choices actually affect anything besides your character.

I won't be holding my breath waiting for Nightfall to come out nor do I plan on pre-ordering it. But I will buy it to give my chars a new place to explore. I doubt the Prophecies die-hards will give it any more of a chance then they did Factions. People complained that Factions was too geared toward PvP, and what is the Nightfall BETA event? PvP. I was a late comer to GW compared to most of you and was hoping Factions would put me on more of an even ground so I could play with guild members more. I even hurried my 5th char thru Tyria just to make sure I was ready. But as Dana pointed out and I couldn't agree more, the exact opposite happened. The quest for personal "Titles" and "Factions" both happening at the same time spread everyone out doing their own thing. Does anyone but me find it odd that in a game meant for people to play online together as a group, that there isn't one "Title" that encourages that? Shame too really, as that was when I had my most fun.... ~Peace~ Stepp

I agree that a lot of us got really spread out when Factions came out. We used to be able to group every night to do whatever, but now we're all over the place. That is why I've decided to stick with one or two characters as my "mains" and the rest are just for fun. I picked my Monk and Mesmer as my mains since they are my favorite.
Nightfall is looking pretty neat. I was able to see Gaile Gray yesterday in game and she answered a bunch of questions about Nightfall. She said Nightfall is going to be more geared toward PvE. I'm hoping that is how the final product turns out though.

I dont know if any of you agree with this but I personally think that Factions ruined the 'closeness of the Guilds. I am hoping that Nighfall brings more 'Guildness' back into the game.
I did contemplate creating new characters from factions, but since i love playing my main two characters decided against it. I had already had a 'bash' at them in the PVE preview and decided that they were not for me. So I have concentrated on Dana and Trudi and to a lesser degree Tanya.
Whether i create new ones from Nightfall, I will decide after the PVE preview.

Hmmmm, don't think I will ever be able to recognize Dana if she wasn't either Dana or Trudi

That's why I remade my new character w/ the same first name as my Warrior. Since they're my two primaries, anyone should be able to recognize me. Though I still prefer my warrior... good ol' Baenre.

Yes, uh, that is why I like the "Twisted Sister" names, now everyone knows it is me, uh, well, maybe not, heh heh.

Yes, but how will they dance?
I notice the pre-order bonus is an extra character slot. Does anyone know how many character slots will come with Nightfall when merged with previous accounts? Will it still be two? Or are they reverting to one? This would definitely play a factor in deciding whether to preorder or not.

I would assume that Nightfall comes with two slots, standard. Plus one for preorders.
Otherwise, they're jerks.

The 1 pre-order + 2 merging = 3 total has already been confirmed by Gayle Gray on the Gwonline forums (btw I call the pre-release pack pre-order pack because in french they call it "boite de pre-commande" or "pre-order box")
