I have now left Cantha for a while and have gone back home to Tyria for some 'R n' R' (Cantha burnout) and to fully map the continent of Tyria.
I am currently a Tyrian Cartographer (90%). My aim is to get the 100% title of Tyrian Grand Master Cartographer.
I started to map the Northern Shiverpeaks last night and actually gained an extra 1.2% to my map, and I am quite a thorough explorer. I even found 3 areas here that I had not even seen before.
Most of the 'extra' percentage has been in the mission areas of Frost Gate and Borlis Pass.
It looks like I am going to have to go over the whole continent again.

Im doing similar thing right now with my Canthan Ranger, im not too bothered with Cantha right now, since i am not too keen on the way skills are unlocked. So i have gone to exploring Tyria. So far i have done the northern shiverpeaks and Ascalon, if your up for Kryta or the Jungle, give us a shout. I carnt do early missions (yet) though

Good luck, I have put my tyrian exploration project on hold at the moment. I started a little when my pre-order key expired. Rather tedious to get all, especially the last percentage I guess, :-)
Yes, I also think that most unexplored areas is to be found in the mission areas. Areas like "the End of the World" behind the charr army in the northern wall mission is pretty hard to be aware of before you actually go out looking for them. During a mission your are very little focused on exploring new areas

Say Lago, you have perhaps an advantage here? We were talking once about the virtues of necrotic transversal, and maybe with this skill you can actually travel to more area on the maps than can be covered by other professions?

Hehe, at least some tenth's of a percent and unique views are available for a necro.
A necro can without time restrains explore the bonus area in Dunes, which have a large "hidden" area. And for spectacular views - only necros can see the sight from the top of the towers in the Riverside mission.

How do you get out of the tower once you get there? Also I though they nerfed Dunes so you could not use Necrotic Traversal to get outside before the doors were opened. I would hear more of these options for Necros.

To get down from the towers you either have to have a spare body below it (but then you think of where you stand when you are using transveral first time) or, If you have friends with you, you can sac yourself to death and get rebirthed.
As for Dunes, it may be nerfed now. It took a longbow to get one of the bugs close enough to do the trick when I tried it maybe 1 1/2 month ago.

Since my first post on this subject, I have now edged up to 94.3% of the Tyrian map.
A lot of this I have gained in the Riverside Province and Two Serpents Lake areas.
Just to note that there is a 'huge' area behind the 'Dunes of Depair' mission - probably worth a few 0.?%.
Lago - I have now done the 'Edge of the World' explore.

Have you done Majestys Rest? Many people don't realise thats an area unto itself. There's no missions or quests there. But if you want to kill the lvl30 Rotty there, its a personal challenge. If there are other guildies interested to go there, post it here. I've never gone from the Temple of Ages side before (thats the tough side) }

UPDATE
Okay I am now up to 98.6% explored in Tyria and rapidly running out of 'foggy' areas.
One interesting place in which I found 0.3% was at Hell's Precipice. Did you know that there are 3 beaches that you can actually go down to there? ................ i did'nt until last night. Once the plain has been cleared (except for the 3 domes), you can run past dome 1 on the left hand side onto a beach and into the sea. The same can be done for dome 3, the last one on the right. Dont destroy all of the domes and go and explore the next valley/beach on the way to Prince Rurick. I did all of this with henches and completed the whole mission.
The back area of Dunes of Despair is worth approximately 0.3%. Use the Necrotic Traversal trick here.
Another area that caught me out was the Riverside Province mission. If you hug the wall at the bottom, you will go through a tunnel into a marshy area. Follow this wall all the way round. This could net you a few %.
I have now fully explored the Beacons to Drocknars Forge run - there are some funny hidden areas in Lorner's Pass.
In the Gates of Kryta mission, there is a 'hidden' area worth 0.1% behind the house where Oink is - beware loads of nasties here. Also the marsh to the west can be fully explored. Take time to explore the beach and the islands as well.
It has surprised me, by how much i have missed in exploring Tyria. Did you know of the 'hidden' area that is actually in the outpost of Aurora Glade - hidden behind the Merchant - its worth 0.1%.
Now where is that last 1.4%?
As far as I can see, the only places I have left are the West fort in Dunes back area, the back area of Thunderhead Keep, back area of Bloodstone Fen and the back area of Aurora Glade.
PS: - In the Ice Caves of Sorrow mission, has anyone tried to kill any of the 3 catapult engineers in the ice field towards the end of the mission. I would like to see if this can be done and then use Necrotic Traversal to be able to get access to the ice field to explore all of it - i bet that would be worth a few %.

Hiya all
How is everyone getting on with the Elonian Grandmaster Cartographer title?
It seems, that Elona is a bit more easier to map than Tyria.
I am currently on 99.6%, without too much difficulty.
Good luck everyone.

I plan on attempting this title with my Paragon, Coran Darei. It should be much easier when I start out trying to get every bit of map space uncovered... or so I'm hoping.
