Hey Scouts! IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is good for chatting and to create a group for missions or quests. To use IRC you need a client, the most popular one is mIRC. When you have downloaded it and installed you need to connect to server so type /server irc.webchat.org. After that type /join #Scouts_of_Tyria and we can make groups and help each other ;D.

I've been in that channel lately.. and well no one showed up. We need like a world-wide guild advertisment to encourage using mIRC. Or Teamspeak even, if your not too scared to share your voice

Not a bad idea....I'll see what the other officers think and try to nail down a direction with all the voice programs and options available.
more later....

From my experience, if an IRC server is going to work, people are going to have to stay idle on them as much as possible. If people just log in, notice no one is online and log off again, no one will ever be online.
So, I'm currently idling on the server whenever my computer is on. If you're interested in an IRC server, I suggest you do the same.

There are a number of options for in-game chat. The Scouts of Tyria don't currently have a "preferred" method and until I can get all the officers and especially the leader to come up with a permanent solution we'll continue as is... which is basically If you'd like to host a server and invite your group by all means.... go for it.
I'd suggest anyone that that has a server running to make a post in the "Expedition" area with the connection information. That way members can quickly identify servers they wish to log in to.
I'll start looking into a dedicated "SoT" solution but no promises on when an answer will follow... ;D

I'll be idling there whenever I'm home. I use Trillian, so what's one more connection?

Hey, I have just downloaded and installed Trillian. I think I will love it ! I already do; how else do you think I could stand having accounts on every major IM system? (I do have a MSN account, I just hide from it 'cause there's some scary people on it!)

Trillian is pretty nice when it works. I prefer trillian 2 over 3 though. I just have to many problems with 3 not working right or not connecting at all, but maybe its just me.

And I prefer to use Hello when I can, since it makes sharing images a breeze. It's worth trying, especially if you're into art & design. (makes bouncing critiques back and forth a snap!) www.hello.com
