Is it true? GW Guru farming threadScroll to the bottom of the thread to find the paragraph. Looks weird, doesn't it?

Yeah Stormy it works although you don't always get double what the item was originally worth like that guy said, but you do get a bit more.

Yes it is true, but a lot of times you'll get like, 1 or 2 g more. I use to do that but, I stopped cuz it just wasn't that important to me.

You get more but it depends on the item as to how much more. I don't know if the money you make doing it is enough to pay for another ID Kit or not, but I'm just too lazy to go ID everything.

If I recall... as long as the base item is worth around 50g then, the ID will pay for itself AND then a bit of a profit.

It's standard for me to ID everything from Crystal Desert and up in NM. I find I make a fair amount of change for not very much trouble at all.

Someone in the guild (I forget who, sorry!) suggested I do this when I was doing LB/SS farming.
Overall it's well worth it - most items don't increase in value much, but a few will increase to 70-90 gold or around there. Since the kit only costs 100 gold, and the maximum average value of whites without doing an ID is 50 gold, you only need 3-4 items like that to pay for the whole kit, which you easily get from a 25-use kit.

My theory:
If you need materials, salvage all the whites.
If you're gonna sell them anyway, you might as well ID them before selling them. Only an item dropped by a low level foe will increase sale by less than 4g (cost of IDing it...unless you use a Superior kit, then it's 5g). If it's a max damage item it's definitely worth IDing before sale.

I think I mentioned it once or twice in chat, but otherwise thought it to be common knowledge anyway. You about sum it up - ID-ing white lvl 20 drops before selling pays for itself, easily. If you're playing in a mixed area (say Aryyok ward with 16/20) you might want to skip the small items, although you will probably not lose money ID-ing them. Income is significantly increased; and doing the ID stuff at the merchant before selling has a better time/yield ratio than any farm location

My theory: If you need materials, salvage all the whites. Better not. Salvage armor from lvl 20s, yes, but leave weapons alone. They are only worth it when highly salvagable, and then use an expert kit on them. Otherwise you'll get a measly ~5 wood from a weapon you might sell for 50g, and use up a salvage load in the process... You can always buy materials at 50% between buy and sell from players if you're really in need. With weapons I'm often not even sure what kind of material I'll get from them.

Only reasons I salvage:
Item salvages into high value materials (feathers, granite, iron, and dust currently). I'm out of space during a vanquish or mission - better to salvage a white then leave another on the ground.
