Hello all!
I just finished the primary and secondary quests of the Frostgate mission with my Lvl-15 R/W relying solely on the support of Lvl-8 henchmen; wow, that mission took some elbow grease(?) Has anyone else found it to be a very difficult mission?
Oh yeah, before you ask, I completed the mission once before with Bone Twirler (Lvl-20 with heroes in tow), but I kind of tagged along for that one. I wanted to accomplish it using lower-ranked players.

Hi Peregrine It is indeed a difficult one to do with henchies, due to their low level. Especially the bit where you are going down the hill leading back up to the catapult for the bonus - there are lots of enemies there, including several monks. Nice work on doing it with henchies Did you use interrupts with your ranger to accomplish it?

Hi Peregrine Did you use interrupts with your ranger to accomplish it? Holy samolies, I have no clue what interrupts are. My tactics included the following, though: 1) Leave the bonus dwarf where he starts until I've cleared the entire way to the bonus trebuchet. 2) When approaching the bonus trebuchet, pin down my henchmen far from the trebuchet, and then lure a few of the enemies away from the rest of the group. 3) Take out the two Dolyak riders first (there always seemed to be at least two sticking together in the bonus mission.) 4) Slash my opponent's hamstring so they're incapacitated, then quickly destroy them one at a time. 5) Bring along 1 pure healer, and 1 necro who's capable of both battling and healing. Mind, this was no easy feat. It took me about 10 tries to complete the mission this way. Boy was it satisfying when I did, though. Peregrine

Congrats on the bonus Peregrine,
That is a difficult mission to do at a lower lvl. Even I have messed up the bonus as a lvl20 player.

Hi! Good job, Peregrine! I had big troubles with that one first time (necro around lvl 15 + henchies). After 3 attempts I actually had to leave the bonus for later. When I henched it with my second charatcer, a mesmer, things went much smoother. Funny that.... Regards, Lago Mortis

Seems like decent tactics! The ability to flag the henchies to stay in one spot was a much needed update - it was almost impossible to lure things when playing with them before that. As for interrupts, you should look into them, they are very useful as the game progresses. They essentially stop your foe part way through using a skill or spell. This can range from things like stopping those Dolyak Riders casting "Heal Other" and making them easier to kill, to protecting your party by stopping enemies casting powerful spells like Meteor Shower. gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Interrupt#Related_Skills

I pretty much started out as an E/Me but I never really used interrupts much ... except for the knockdown you get with Meteor Shower. There are one or two of the later missions where I had to take Cry Of Frustration along though ... again, mainly to get bonuses. Grats on getting the bonus on that mission though Peregrine

Woohoo! Thank you, thank you. If I don't post more riveting accounts of my Tyrian escapades, it's because I'm away from my gaming machine, visiting my sister in northeast TN. Be back soon, though. Laters all, Peregrine
