They're wiping their build directory as of May 1st. To be rebuilt, from scratch, under new policies. gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/GuildWiki:Builds_wipeOkay, so that url doesn't completely take you there... but you get the idea. It's mainly a source for cookie-cutter builds anyway, but has some value. Hopefully the wipe will do it some good. I still think the elite list is the most useful thing on the site...

Yeah, I use it for the elite cap area. Have you guys seen the Anet sanctioned Wiki? From what I saw of it, its not as good as this GuildWiki is.

A lot of the main contributors of GuildWiki are also over at GWW (Guild Wars Wiki) so it could get better - although it could go either way. There are a lot of licensing issues with transferring the data over and with 2 years of knowledge on GuildWiki, the official one might not catch up. On the other hand, the official one gets access to copyrighted ArenaNet content (check out the armour renders, for example). I'm guessing in a few months it will be necessary to check both wikis to get the best info. When GW2 comes out however, hopefully we will only need the official one and can avoid this double-wiki (3 if you count GWOnline) confusion. Yeah I always found the builds section kind of messy. It is useful to get ideas but I'd never copy a build outright. Hopefully the new policies will make things better - will have to check them out. edit: oops. it's been 2 years, not 3.

As I've seen in another forum the contributors are divided as well; a new wiki would have to offer a special advantage to motivate them for a duplicate effort. Without this motivation (for a game with visibly limited lifetime) the new wiki will not be able to catch up with 2 years of headstart I think. Hm, messy builds yes and no - at least they had a common standard and it was a point to start. Compared to the stuff on some other websites (even with fancier mouse over tooltips) it was ok. But the new policies don't excist yet, neither for old nor new wiki btw - part of the problem was that there was no majority for any modus vivendy, and that's the reason for the wipe.

It looks like somebody made a wiki especially for builds. Currently in beta-test. www.pvxbuilds.com/Also, this builds site looks like it could be excellent, I've not used it myself though. gwshack.us/
