I'd been wondering what to do with my candy cane shards and apparently there are Wintersday Gift Givers that spawned after the final Wintersday event. There are 4 gift givers in total. They can be found in in Ascalon City (under the Wintersday tree), Lions Arch (close to the rings), Droknars Forge (under the Wintersday tree) & Kamadan (under the Wintersday tree). They will exchange 5x Candy Cane Shards for 1x Wintersday Gift. Time to get those peppermint candy canes I really need!!! I haven't been able to check this yet but I hope its true. Gifted

Thanks for the tip, gifted. I will go exchanging tonite. Might be worth a try: The gift you get when double clicking on a wintergift is random, but does not seem to be pre-fixed. So fill up your inventory completely, but with none of the gifts that you can get from a wintergift with the exception of a peppermint candy cane. When you doubleclick on a stack of more than one wintergift, you will either get a peppermint candy cane, or you will get a message that you have no room in your inventory. The idea is to keep double clicking and ignoring the no-room messages. If what you get is not pre-set, then eventually by random chance you will get a peppermint candy cane. Keep doing this and you might be able to get all peppermint candycanes from your stack (won't work if you only have one winter gift left, though, since you will be freeing an inventory spot when you doubleclick it). I don't know if this idea works. It is untested. *looks under Gift's Avatar and wonders what only seems kinky the first time *

Wow, that could be a great method if it works. In theory, I don't see why it wouldn't. You'll just have to wait a while as the non-peppermint gifts try to open and error.

Well I can confirm the gift givers part, as that's the only way I have gotten any gifts, since I missed out on the end event thing.
I may have to give Jane's theory a try and see what happens. I got one peppermint CC from a gift already and can always use many, many, many more. ;D

Jaxx, I was thinking of you the whole time you were gone...I got you some gifts, but I couldn't wait to open them .....LOL...well I didn't know when you were coming back and some of the gifts had cc shards. So now I have a couple of goodies to give you if I ever see you on....

I tried this last night, with the peppermint candycanes, but it didnt seem to work. I had a stack of 35 gifts and as much as I clicked, it kept saying inventory full. I only had one available slot for a winter gift, filled with peppermint cc's. After giving up, I made room in my inventory and opened all the gifts, and wound up getting about 4 peppermint cc's so maybe my theory won't work.

I guess it won't even try to generate a present from the gift w/o an empty inventory space. Oh well.

No, I don't think that is the problem, because I once had a full inventory except for one or two gifts, and I created the gifts that were already there. It may be that once you try to open the gift, it becomes "assigned" rather than being random each time. Who knows?

That could be it too. You could try this trick in a combat area.... just drop a present on the ground when it won't open into a peppermint cane. Though I suppose it might just pre determine what you'd get from a gift, and not necessarily that gift that you just dropped.
Hmm, hmm.
