I had just Orison, healing breeze, remove hex and resurrect on him. I'll try some different skills and see if it helps as much as it did for Zalis. It helps if you've captured some Monk elites too. But Healing Seed is a good place to start for normal skills.

My Dunkoro rarly dies, but is often a target of enemy. But that's nothing new to Guild Wars just ask poor Alisa LOL The enemy AI has always seemed to go after the weakest armored most vunerable player at that point in time. I don't think thats changed. But what has changed is the aggresivness of henchies. The Non-hero hench seem to go after things not even in aggro range yet. I was watching a Non-hero warrior run up to a group I hadn't even seen yet for an attack hehehe I was looking at him wondering just what the hell he was doing Freakin Leeroy he was! So because of this new found aggression I don't have ANY of my heros set over the "Guard" (Shield Icon) mode. My healers are set to the "Peace" (Dove Icon) mode as I want them to avoid fights. So here's a few hints may help yas out a bit. (1)Set your monks to 'Peace" mode. (2)Make sure their armor has insignas on them as the default armor has no mods on them at all hardly. (3)Give them a Staff with a Hale Staff head (+HP) and a Staff Wrapping of Fortitude (+HP) attached to it. With these two you can add up to 60HP. (4)Spend that 4-6K on each for that Maj Vigor rune. (5)Spend that 4-6K or more on that Sup Healing rune and use it when your HP is high enough. A weak monk is a weak monk even to himself. (6)Keep an eye on them and target the enemy that has targeted them quickly as you can. (7)A monk without energy is worthless to everyone. And the AI will use skills one after the other until the energy is drained to zero. So try to use low energy heals and Sigs as much as you can. Remove Hex 5 Mend Ailment 5 Word of Healing 5 Sig of Rejuvination 0 Dwayna's Kiss 5 Healing Breeze 10 and Heal Other 10. Only two skills that are over 10 energy there. (6)Keep an eye on your Hero Monks energy and make sure he has fully regenerated BEFORE you start your next attack. Like I said before no energy no heals even for himself. Hope this helps and I'll see yas soon ~Peace~ Stepp

Thanks Stepp, some of that will help. Except combined I don't think my account has 8-12k, nevermind being able to just spend it on runes. But the rest was helpful and I'll continue to save up for the others.

(3)Give them a Staff with a Hale Staff head (+HP) and a Staff Wrapping of Fortitude (+HP) attached to it. With these two you can add up to 60HP. I use any +energy staff head I can get plus any +AL staff wrapping for my hero monks. For aggro, the AI first compares AL then HP, so making it a better choice I think to give them +AL over HP. I almost always have the earth ele (ward) and the paragon motivation with me for support, besides the standard 2 monks in a party of 8. Dunkoro died on me twice, in a battle were we all died twice.

My heroes are doing pretty well so far, and I have not paid much attention to getting them runes or better weapons, just gave them what I happened to find along the way.
All of my heroes are Rangers as secondary profession, and I am giving them pets as their only ranger skill. I am looking for a different pet for each hero, so I only have some heroes with pets so far (crocodile, flamingo, Factions tiger). But I think the 2 or 3 pets I have out with me take up a lot of the initial damage in a fight. I equip only one hero with Revive Animal and that suffices to resurrect the dead. But the pets get stuck a lot behind collectors and priests, so beware. Suddenly you realize you are missing a pet somewhere.
For Dunkoro, I have him using about 5 healing skills, Word of Health as an elite. I notice he uses that a lot, even though I have it as the 4th skill or so. I use Orizon of Healing and Healing Breeze, and I gave him Signet of Devotion in the hopes he knows how to use it when out of energy.

I've got my Dunkoro set up with a similar Word of Healing build. But I also took time to slap some minor runes on my Paragon's heroes last night. (along with reworking Dunk & Koss's builds) That should help out.
Has anyone equipped Koss w/ interrupt attacks? If so, does he use them well enough to be useful?

I have my Axe Koss set with both "Disruption Chop" and "Distraction Blow" and he uses them both often and well If you want to see some amazing interupts and shut-downs also load your ranger up with a mess of interuption skills. I did this with my monk Medic to cap an elite monk skill and the monk boss never got off one spell, not a one. I agree with Gigs armor bonuses on staffs are great, I guess my point there was just to not leave their staff nekid! hehehe There are bonuses to be had there so take advantage of them and use what you have. I also agree with Jane having other bodies around to take damage for you helps a great deal as well. I set my Hero Necro up as Minion Master and usually have about 10 VERY cute pets about hehehe Take care all see yas soon ~Peace~ Stepp

I set my ranger up as a trapper and noticed that she was laying traps just about all the time. I don't know how good this is without me taking the effort to manually control where she puts her traps and when (by clicking on her skill icons and setting her flag), and it is hard to see from what is happening whether her traps are being interrupted or not. But I do notice that a lot of the traps are successful.
If you do this, it is perhaps better to set all the heros to not being totally aggressive so you can get then to lead the enemy back to the traps using the flags.

I've noticed my Dunkoro being much better since taking Healing Breeze away from him. He was casting it way too often and having energy management issues... even with 48 energy.

I don't let my hero monks use healing breaze. I gave them my old word of healing build from back in the day. Seems to work really great on them too. I got one setup to be heals and condition removal and the other one to be heal+prot+hex removal. Seems to work pretty well the way I got them going right now. I've only actually gotten killed off once so far playing with them. Thats cause Koss decided he needed to aggro 6 groups at once though.
I'm like having Olias as an mm though. Heros are suprisingly good at their jobs when you set them up right.

I have evolved my Olias MM build a little .
N/Me Death set to 16 Soul reaping to 11 Inspiration 9
skills (from left to right) Animate Bone Fiend Animate Bone Horrors Blood of the Master (some minion heal) Icy Veins (Faction Elite, he use it much better than most human would) Signet of Lost Souls (Elona skill, healing and energy management) PowerDrain (Interrupt + energy management, use the Ai reflexes) Leech Signet (same as PD) Rez (just in case)
Seem to work pretty nicely.

BTW, when playing as the only human in the party, there is one situation when it is an advantage for having the heroes (and maybe henchies) target differently than you: when you are changing your target to spread hexes to various enemies. I am playing Elona with my Necro TS Enna as blood and curses, and I like to get parasitic bond and various other health degen hexes on several enemy, not just one. In this case it is actually nice knowing that some of the Heroes are pounding away at the monks while I spread these hexes to the rest of the party. As long as you don't click or use space, the opponent isn't seen as the target for your hench. This is very visible when you start casting hexes (not direct damage spells or attack skills) while you are on the edge of the aggro circle. The hench don't react. They only react when the enemy attacks, coming into the aggro zone. If the enemy only responds with hexes from the edge of the aggro zone, the hench just stand there and let you fight alone, until the first direct attack triggers them. So it would be no problem at all (and never was) to spread around your hexes, as long as you don't use the default attack or direct attack skills on the opponents.

Is there anywhere on this board where we can upload Hero Builds? Hero maintenance has become a real chore with 9 toons and some of you most likely have created some sweet builds that others could easily try if we could download the build file. Just a thought.

On the board? No. Anybody that has some webspace hanging around can host them, and put a link on the board though. If I ever have enough free time I might throw some up. Never know what is going to happen around here though.

We can exchange templates via the SoT website. I tested this and it works.
The line below is from a template file on my PC. It's a Smite build for a Monk/Mesmer which works well when out and about with henchs and heroes.
One thing I don't know is what would happen if you didn't have one of the spells required.
To do this:
Create a new Notepad file, copy the line and paste it into the file. The file must have a .txt extension.
Place the file in your C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Templates\Skills folder. The file should now appear in your list of templates.

I guess you could do it that way. I didn't bother to look at what was in the files before.

One thing I don't know is what would happen if you didn't have one of the spells required. I reckon its like trying to put a build with cap sigs on to a Hero, it will just remove them from the bar at the bottom.

They just don't show up if your character doesn't have that skill.

Hey everyone, This might seem like a really silly thing to ask (but i'm gonna ask anyway) but I seem to be having a problem with my Heroes. I recently took Dante to Elona where I did the first couple of quests and now I have the first 3 heroes (Koss, Dunkoro and Takhlora (or however you spell it)). After that I went back to Kryta to carry on what I was doing there but for some reason I can't seem to drop the starter weapons for my heroes and get the out of my inventory! Am I just being really dumb and missing something really easy here? Or have I found a bug?
