Well, I managed to complete 1/4 of the Mallyx the Unyielding quest. I was in a group yesterday that cleared out all of Torc'qua city and took down the boss there. For anyone interested, here is the team setup that was used. Bonder (that was me) Healer Prot Monk with Zealous Benediction SS Necro with Blood Ritual Two Echo Nukers Tank that did nothing but tank Ranger with Greater Conflag and Winter The basic strategy was for everyone to use Mantra of Frost to cut down on the damage. Bonds further cut down on the damage and excellent tanking and body blocking allowed the casters to function without getting hit. The tank would pull the Margonites to a corner so they could not reach the casters. It is very important to do this since every enemy here hits like a boss. After clearing the city Lord Jodath will spawn with a huge number of Margonites and a few bosses. Just try to pull them and slowly take down his massive spawn. Then pull his group and take him down. He has a nasty monster only skill that interrupts everyone within earshot. It only costs him one Adren so he will be using it quite often. However, he isn't strong like Kanaxai or anything like that. He just has a lot of health. You have to kill every Margonite in the area for the quest to update. Then a chest will spawn and it will give everyone in the group a Margonite Gem. It also opened up a gateway to the Stygian Veil and spawned a Seer of Truth. Anyway, I hope this helps out with trying to tackle Torc'qua City. If anyone wants to try tackling Torc'qua City, I will always be willing to help Here is a screenshot shortly before we defeated Lord Jodath.

Looks like I'll get my Paragon there... and then no one will want me in their party since I'm not a core class.

Your Paragon will do fine in the Domain of Anguish This group I was in just wanted to do a basic cookie cutter build and it worked out. But Paragons, Rits, Assasins, Dervish and of course one of my favorites the Mesmer are all great here. Just needs a nice team setup with good offensive and defence and you are set I am looking forward to more Scouts getting here so we can have some fun and bring various combinations of classes to do these quests. I am stumped about how to deal with the Stygian Veil area though. Some Scouts and allies tried yesterday, but those touchers completly overwhelm us. I guess a Paragon with "Can't Touch This!" would help.

Big bummer, all I can say. I am struggling to get my ranger through NF to reach end game, and already I find going through the NF story for the second time (TS Enna, my Elonian Necro got as far as the worm missions) quite tedious and, uh, bordering on boring. But I would also like to get my Rit and my Mesmer and even my Elementalist to this end game elite mission. By the looks of things, though, it will take me a few GW chapters before I get around to doing this. Basically it is a long trip from either Cantha or Tyria to Elonai endgame. I don't know why, but I didn't find it so tedious with Factions. Maybe it is because the Factions story was rather thin, and the side quests could be skipped (if you did it right, you only had to collect 10000 faction points once, and reuse them for other characters). With NF on the other hand, you have to do a lot of these run here run there quests along with the missions, and worry about equipping and levelling a set of heroes for each and every character you play. Well, never ending fun, I guess

I am sure that within the next few weeks, the Domain of Anguish (DoA) will become easier as different builds and skills get tested. It will be interesting to see, which professions will be sought after the most.
For you that have several characters, this chapter must be a nightmare - Do I take them all through Nightfall or only some select ones? I am having enough to do with just Dana and Trudi.
This, as I have said several times is the main reason why I have never deviated from only having one or two characters. As each new chapter is added, this problem will only get worse.
What are you all going to do when Chapter 6 is out and there are 16 (speculation) professions to get through and Heroes to equip? Three chapters could be about manageable, but beyond that ............ I dont know.
The Rumour Mill has it, that the next chapter is not due until next August, so at least there is some time to do things with all of your characters.

Am buying lottery tickets each week, with the plan of becoming wealthy by the time chapter 5 comes out so I don't ever have to do anything else again but play Guild Wars!

I'd like to finish NF w/ my Paragon & Warrior, and we'll see what happens after that.
Maybe I'll go finish Factions for the first time...

I would imagine spirit spammers would work well here. I'm not sure why they don't like rits much. Spirit spammers are the biggest pain in the but in the pvp arena because they make it harder for you to spike kill someone, and they usually have the spirits that either blind you, knock you down, or interrupt. Anyway the point being rits are really useful for spirits. I'm not familiar enough to say for anything else though.
So I was thinking if you take a healing monk, a protection monk, and a spirit spammer. You got your defensive bases covered. As far as offensive vs defense the core classes do have the best mix for working together. For the most part most of the people in guildwars either started with warrior or only play warrior so they don't realize that you can get by pretty well without one. In fact with all the customization options available now I think that ranger or necro would be your best bet for a character class that can do pretty much everything.

Yeah, Spirit Spammers work very well here. Just they are hard to find here so Bonding is the alternative to it. Bonds are fairly easy to keep up, except for when fighting these Stygian dervish enemies who constantly strip them.
Today I got really close to completing the Stygian Veil. We had a Dervish as a tank and he did an excellent job with the tanking. We completed the first quest, but it took a while. The first part we had to kill, I would say, well over 100 enemies. Then kill two Stygian Underlords. Then we got the quest reward and a second quest which was to kill the Stygian Overloards so you can fight the boss. However, we got killed when aggro broke. This Ele chased us accross the entire map and would not lose aggro.
Also, once I complete this quest and get my Gems for Razah, I'll try to get gems for as many people as I can in the Scouts so that more can obtain Razah. I am not too sure how soon that is though. This place is extremely difficult.

So what is involved in unlocking him/her anyway?

You get a quest at the Gate of Anguish to get Razah. You have to bribe a guard in the final mission outpost by obtaining four different gems in the Domain of Anguish who will allow you to get to another area where Razah apparently is. You get these gems in each of the four areas of the Domain of Anguish. They are a rare drop from monsters in the areas and you can also get one by clearing the entire area and defeating the overloard who rules there (such as Lord Jadoth in Torc'qua City). Their drop rate is around the same as an Ectoplasm. Here are where each drops. I am doing this off of memory though, so I hope this is accurate.
Margonite Gem - Torc'qua City Stygian Gem - Stygian Veil Titan Gem - Foundry of Failed Creations Torment Gem - Ravenheart Gloom
I hope that helps.

After getting Jane my ranger to the endgame, I was planning on next working on my Rit. The last times I had been playing Rit in Factions and Prophecies, I went a bit away from being a pure spirit spammer. I reduced my spawning level but raised my channeling level quite a bit, also reducing communing a little, and took along Painful Bond. This works really well along with a few spirits, since Painful Bond causes any spirit hit to do damage. Extra damage if the spirit is giving damage already. And I believe this extra damage is to nearby enemies as well. The nice thing about this is that even non-direct damaging spirits like Shadowsong also give damage, and its amazing what 3 or 4 spirits plus Pain-in-the-butt-Bond can do

Razah is the Ritualist hero that you can only obtain by collecting one of each gem in the Domain of Anguish. Jane, that sounds like a really interesting Ritualist build you have there. It would be neat to try it out in the Domain of Anguish I got really far in the Foundry of Failed Creations today. That place is tough! For anyone who has done the Gate of Pain, remember those Torturewebs? Imagine fighting four or five of them plus Greater Dream Riders and Titans. Anyway, this team had a unique strategy of getting around being forced into a locked room and fighting a huge number of monsters. The beginning of the Foundry is comprised of four room with monsters that spawn one after the other. Once your entire party is in a room, the door closes and you either kill them all or get killed yourself. Basically, you have a ranger bring a pet and have the pet die outside of the gate using the world enchant that makes you take 10 damage every time you walk. You then have a Necro or someone with Necro secondary with Necrotic Transversal, Ressurect and Rebrith. Go into these rooms, door closes and you fight to the death and in this time period the Necro will Transversal out and Rebirth everyone except for the Tank (Warrior, Dervish, Assasin or whoever is tanking). The tank will be resed using Ressurect so the thank is still stuck in the room, but everyone else is outside of the room. The Tank then gathers aggro inside of the room and casters then deal damage. The team also used the Mantra of Frost, Greater Conflag and Winter combo. We got all the way to the center area before the healer got disconnected. Quite unfortunate. A very nice team build that allows for a lot of diversity in what you choose to bring. I hope that this weekend maybe some Scouts or allies will be willing to try this one out. I think we could complete it.

I am getting there, Vol, but with my ranger Jane. But the going is slow and I have no idea how much more I have left. Finished the Domain of Pain mission last night, but lost interest in doing the follow up primary quest because of how difficult the areas are for teams of henchy/heroes. I will try to go further tonight. I will work on my Rit next, but she has a long way to go, not having started NF yet.
