I thought I'd share some of my pics of my little houseguest. I get all kinds of weird creatures that come to my doorstep, thought I'd share. Sorry about the photo quality. Cute, eh? Now who knows what it is? My cat is wondering if its edible. The pics where it got ahold on my cat's paw were to grainy. I thought it'd deter her from playing with it, but it didn't. So I picked it up (carefully) and put it back out in the lake.

Awww he is really cute even though I would be on the nearest chair screaming my lungs out..... It's looks kind of like a cross between a scorpion and a crayfish it's just the color that is wired. Maybe he was thrown out of the nest for being the black sheep of the family...lol.. If I weren't so scared of little things that BITE!! I would keep him for a cool looking pet... But thanks Ukiyo for sharing the nice pitures..... [glow=pink,4,300]Angel................ [/glow]

Ha ha. That's awesome. We use to have scorpions show up in our bathtub all the time where I use to live.

omg Bob you completely derailed my train of thought. So funny. Crayfish or crawfish is right. We have such stupid words for everything in the South. I think people used to call them crawdads or crawdaddy around here. When I was 3 or 4 I wondered why there wasn't a crawmommy. O.o I didn't think about it, but it does look like a mini pet. ;D As a real pet, he'd be fun at parties. ;D He wouldn't last too long with my cats around looking at him like he's a cat treat with claws. It's got to sleep sometime, I'm sure my cat is thinking. Glad everyone enjoyed the pics.

They definitely don't fight fair. Here in the UK we have a native crayfish (the white-clawed crayfish) that has been all-but wiped out by the introduction of the signal crayfish from North America. Its not the fact that the US crayfish is like 5 times bigger than the limey one, its the fact that it carries a fungus (Aphanomyces astaci) that ours is susceptible to.
Here endeth the biology lesson.
