Personaly i prefer the Kurzicks, i just like the idea of a group of people who live in the forest, and just generaly their story.

For those missing the pre-order booklet -
The Kurzicks & The Echovald Forest When the Jade Wind swept through the branches of Echovald Forest, it turned everything to stone. Birds crashed to the forest floor in mid-flight. Deer leaped from the ground as flesh and blood, and came to earth little more than life like statues. Now, two centuries later, life has cautiously returned to the forest. The Kurzicks were the first to venture back to the forest. There they have adapted to their petrified surroundings and have begun to carve their culture into this new landscape. To the devout Kurzicks, everything is a sign. A portent of what is to come. They find a divine message and meaning in everything they witness. This church-state is ruled by the Council of Nobles, who makes decisions and laws only after receiving counsel from the spiritual leaders, Known as the Redemptors. Great Houses govern the Kurzicks, ancient families that can trace their origins into Cantha's distant past, and beyond. Today there are five main Houses, two of which are the most powerful and influential. It is common for the Houses to argue amongst themselves, but when it comes time to fight the Luxons, Kurzicks quickly forget their internal squabbles and focus their hatred on their long-standing enemy. Since Shiro's death and the petrifaction of the forest, the Kurzicks have built their elaborate homes and cathedrals directly into the fossilized trunks of the enormous trees that make up the forest.
The Luxons & The Jade Sea For a scant few seconds, the storm that followed Shiro's death wail roiled the sea, spawning waves that reached hundreds of feet in the air. An instant later, everything was frozen in place, but not because of a sudden cold front - the sea was not turned to ice. It had become solid jade. In order to survive, the Luxons had to adapt to a literally landlocked lifestyle, unable to transport goods to market or even sail to the nearby islands for fresh water. Their merchant ships had become one with the petrified ocean, the currents that took them to far-flung lands were now as still as glass. The traditionally seafaring Luxons became nomads sailing on a lifeless sea. They contrived ways to adapt their giant ships to the new landscape. They now carry out extensive jade mining operations on the frozen sea, uncovering magical oddities and precious resources made up of the petrified life embedded in the unmoving waves. Today, the Luxons have grouped themselves into three different clans: the Serpent, the Turtle, and the Crab. To keep order, the Luxons invest authority in their Council of Elders, the ruling body that meets each year to modify and approve the "code" that all clans will follow for the next twelve months. Although the clans often battle against one another, this is less about warfare and more about demonstrating which clan is the strongest and most powerful. These battles are usually fought by each clan's champion, along with that champion's elite guard.

I would have to agree that the focus and mindset of our guild seems to fit more into the Luxon frame of mind. We do alot of PvE and exploring and that seems to fit in to the nomad clan theme, and not to so much the religious theocracy of the forest dwelling Kurzicks. I'd say Luxon. But I like both background stories as well, very well done.
Thanks for the post Hadus, I kept forgetting to read that when I got home.

I think for me it has to be the Luxons. The Kurzicks are too decadent and deserve a downfall.
Plus I find the forests and cave areas depressing and coming from a small Island myself, I prefer the sea air and open spaces.
How is the guild going to decide which Faction to follow and are we going to have a game plan on this as to regards spending the Faction etc, etc?

SoT has always been very democratic in how we make decisions. So more than likely, the vote is what we'll do. Especially since it seems pretty clear which way that's going. As for a game plan, that's one thing we should discuss with any and all allies we might have.

For me, either faction sounds interesting, I just want to start playing the faction that matches with the rest of the guild for obvious reasons. One thing to consider is this: What faction will the rest of the world be choosing? Here on the Euroservers during the recent event it seems most people chose Luxons. I don't know why this happened, but in trying both it seemed like Luxons was the easier path. Now, knowing how the average GW player is out there, the easier path is what most of them will choose. And I think it would be sad and boring if 90% or so of GW is playing Luxons while only a minority choose the other faction. So my advice would be perhaps, if possible, to choose the faction that seems like it will be the less popular! Lets make life more challenging! BTW, our preorder keys popped in the email door today!!! Twisted Sister Jane

On the American servers, the situation actually seems to have been reversed, at least judging by the borders. The Luxon border kept getting pushed back throughout the weekend.

I wonder if that has anything to do with the type of players that are drawn to the Kurzick clan? What I mean is that they are a "dark" race of sorts and I seemed to have the biggest problem in the alliance battles when pitted against necro MM builds.

From what I saw in the beta, you could bribe the opposing members monks (in our case Kurzicks) at their rez shrines. If you died you wouldn't be rezzed at a shrine. But you could bribe the monk for 50 GP (if my memory is correct) and then if you died you would be rezzed.
I'm guessing that if you can bribe a monk, you could possibly bribe a Kurzick Armourer for that elusive Necro armour you want ;-)

Actually, talking to the armorers may have nothing to do with which faction your alliance is aligned with and everything to do with which faction you have more favor with currently...

I think you may have it right there Dawn. When I first got to Cavalon the merchants would not talk to me, but when I got that first quest reword of Luxon faction, then they would talk to me. This was before the guild as a whole went with the Luxons.
